What do you prefer? Reading a text, watching a video, or listening to a podcast? Most people prefer listening or watching over reading a long text. This is simply easier and more ‘fun’ than reading.

Podcasts, as one of the main forms of ‘listening media’, have been growing fast in popularity the past years. To give you an example: A new report found that ‘more than half the people in the United States have listened to one, and nearly one out of three people listen to at least one podcast every month. Last year, it was more like one in four’. We expect that this is not much different in Europe.

We love podcasts, mostly because they are so convenient and informative. They offer us a way to use ‘lost moments’ during our day. Think of a train ride to work, a moment at the bus stop, an afternoon cleaning the house, or a moment in a waiting room. How great is it that we can now learn new things without being in front of a computer or book?

In this blog, we look at our favorite marketing - and social media podcasts. We learned a lot from all of them and think they will be very helpful for every entrepreneur, business owner or marketer.

For a very wide variety of marketing-related topics, Amy Porterfield’s podcast is a great choice.

Amy is the author of Facebook Marketing All-in-One for Dummies (2011). She is very active in the world of marketing as a writer and trainer, specifically for smaller businesses.

Her podcast is easy to listen to, but includes all the information and latest marketing related trends. Amy presents mini-masterclasses and takes new business owners with her through the entire process of marketing a new business. Are you wondering how to start a company? Marketing School by Neil Patel and Eric Siu

We are pretty sure that most of you know Neil Patel. This all-round marketing expert has been taking over the internet the past years with his tools, videos, and podcast.

For his Marketing School Podcast, Neil Patel teams up with Eric Siu. Eric is the CEO of marketing agency Single Grain, where he helped huge companies like Amazon and Uber

Together they present great tips and tricks to business owners and marketers in every branch. Both experts are passionate about growth, and this is visible in the focus of their podcast. We love how practical their tips and tricks are, and how most businesses will be able to follow their tips easily.

A few examples of great episodes are ‘When you should build links to a piece of content’ and ‘How do you grow a podcast audience?’

Marketing over Coffee by John Wall and Christopher Penn

Marketing over Coffee is another very informational podcast, with a broad focus on marketing, sales, and both old - and new technologies.

The podcast gets recorded every Thursday morning at a local coffee shop, just outside Boston. The hosts enjoy their morning coffee while discussing topics like social media marketing, SEO, email marketing, A/B tests, content writing, and offline marketing methods.

What we love most about this podcast is the informal and engaging setup. Spending a Thursday morning ‘drinking coffee’ with John and Christopher is a wonderful way to learn all about marketing. And on top of that, the hosts are very serious about engaging their listeners and answering their questions. If you contact the amazing experts with your question, you have a good chance that your question will be answered.

Social Pros Podcast by Jay Baer and Adam Brown

Our last favorite may be one of the most popular ones. Top marketer Jay Baer and Adam Brown teamed up for this high-quality podcast to share their social media-related knowledge with the world.

Jay Baer is known for his Word of Mouth Strategy and has been working with a large variety of brands for 26 years. Adam Brown works as an Executive Strategist at Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and joined Jay Baer in his mission to educate businesses about all they have learned in their many years in the field of marketing.
