Audit the Basics

Review your goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Try to recall the very goals you have before you even started your Instagram account. Was it to gain more followers or make sales? Whatever they are, be sure that you address them. Your goals should be SMART which means they should be specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-bound. An example of a good goal would be: To grow followers by 20% in the next 4 months by posting good quality content every day and engaging with relevant accounts for 1 hour each day.

Be Sure That You Know Who Your Audience Is

Have a clear idea or who your audience is. If you do not have a clear idea, do some research on: what kind of content do they like, what time are they online, and who else do they follow.

Review your Profile

Be Sure That You Have an Instagram Business Profile

Make sure that your account is public and private and that it is a Business and not Personal account. Changing your Instagram profile to a business profile gives you access to valuable analytics and advertising opportunities.

Review Your Bio

This first impression of your profile should be a good one. It should have a name, an avatar, lists of your skills, include a URL relevant to your brand and contact information.

Analysis Your Content

Do You Have a Visual Strategy?

Develop and style visually consistent. Use images that will make your brand easily recognized. You could choose a minimalist, pastel soft, or juicy and colorful. Whatever you choose, stay consistent to set up a clear visual strategy.

Do You Post Consistently?

The consistency of your posts is very important to your online presence on Instagram. Have a content plan and make sure that you carry it out. Posting rarely will make your audience forget about you while posting and could be annoying for some. Experiment on what works for your brand. It is recommended that brands should post at least once a day and more often for stories.

Do You Use a Variety of Content?

Have a mixture of the child or content to post. Use photos, videos, and carousels. A mixture of these kinds of content is deemed more successful than none.

Are You Promoting Your Content?

Using hashtags, geolocation, tagging other brands or users help boost exposure and getting your content seen by a wider audience. Liking and commenting can help you grow followers and makes your profile active.

How Is Your Engagement Rate?

If there is low engagement rate on Instagram, your account is doomed. Even if you have a lot of followers, but you are not doing very well. Low engagement rate because you have used shady practices and have banned, the content is not relevant to your audience, you do not promote your brand.

Driving engagement to your content is very important, otherwise, only to publish.
