Twitter has recently announced that there will be major restrictions on the use of automation and bulk tweeting tools. This was made by Twitter to prevent the spread of spam, false information or bots on the network. The social media network aims at limiting the amount of the information, especially those that contain false information and propaganda, which are being tweeted by multiple accounts.

Why Does Twitter Impose These Restrictions?

Bulk tweeting or Twitter automation has been used by this social media platform in the past and today, it is a way to manage and plan their social media posts with the help of a free calendar template.

Twitter will also be incorporating changes like Hootsuite which will have new rules. According to Yoel Roth of Twitter, users of Hootsuite will not be able to select multiple accounts, such as Tweeting, Retweeting, liking or following. Twitter is pushing for those who are using the network.

What Does This Mean for Social Marketers?

For marketers, automation is the best tool for Twitter's efficiency. Posting information on real-time updates like natural disasters or emergencies, including RSS feeds, will still be used with automation but they can only be done in one single account. Since automation is no longer an option, marketers are committed to find their communication on this social media marketing platform. Quality content will be very valuable. Managing multiple accounts for a single brand will help to diversify the content and improve customer experience or increase customer satisfaction.

What Happens to Automation?

Automation can still be used. Tweets can still be scheduled from a single account. There should be caution in doing so that tweets do not get sent out, especially during a major global event. Remember that a tweet from your account will not be retweeted anymore by another account that you run. These changes to the Hootsuite will be officially enforced on March 23, 2018, along with the new policies that Twitter will be enforcing.
