Have you used Quora before? It's a great platform where you can find information about almost everything. And besides that, it can be an excellent addition to your marketing strategy.

In this blog, we will tell you all about Quora questions and answers as a marketing tool. Keep reading if you are interested in growing brand awareness and positioning yourself as an expert in your field.

What is Quora?

Quora was founded in 2009 as a platform where users can post questions and give answers to absolutely everything. The platform currently has over 300 million monthly users and tons of amazing information.

So, how does it work?

With your Quora profile, you can follow certain topics, ask questions on these topics, view other peoples’ questions, share your knowledge, and provide answers.

Topics vary widely, and questions do so too.

Luckily, the overall quality of Quora content is relatively high. The reason for this is the clever setup of the platform. Just like Reddit, Quora allows users to give credit to certain answers. The more credits an answer has, the higher its visibility on the platform.

Quora questions and answers for business

With the rapid growth of the platform, many marketers and businesses have been using Quora to reach large numbers of people and show the world how knowledgeable they are in their field.

As a business, you can write short (almost blog-like) texts to answer your target audience’s questions, and create credit points to make your writings gain visibility. As you can imagine, the better you are at writing great content, the more views and thus brand awareness you create. An excellent, and free, way to market yourself and your business.

Five Tips

But how, exactly, does this work? What should you be aware of while sharing your knowledge on Quora? Let’s take a look at five useful Quora tips that almost every business can implement.

1. Build a reputation

The main advantage of Quora for businesses is that they can become an authority in their field, just by sharing their knowledge and writing informational content. This is ideal for most businesses, especially within the awareness stages of a digital marketing funnel.

A nice example of someone who did exactly this is Brian Schuster. In a 2017 blog by HackerMoon, we came across the story of this entrepreneur who grew 1 million views on Quora in 1 month. Can you imagine the effect 1 million views can have on a business?

Brian found out that he had more knowledge of Blockchain and Ethereum than most other people, and started writing about this on Quora. He soon started a business (Hivergent) around these topics and focused his writing on his business and platform (without being too promotional). Within no time, Brian became one of the top writers in his field.

The example of Brian is an extreme one, of course. However, it shows that the possibilities are there. If you are knowledgeable and a good writer, you can reach millions of people with your name, brand, and knowledge. This makes Quora a valuable part of your content and social media strategy.

2. Find interesting blog topics

Are you struggling to find blog topics that your target audience finds interesting? Quora is full of inspiration!

By looking at topics related to your business, you can easily find out which questions are trending among your audience. Do you, for instance, see the question ‘how do I run Facebook ads?’ a lot? Then you know what to write about.

3. Use Quora for market research

For those who don’t have large amounts of money to spend on market research, Quora can be a good and free alternative to expensive research methods.

You can find your customers’ pain points by simply looking at certain Quora questions that get asked a lot. By setting up your profile to be notified when a discussion on a relevant topic takes place, you can follow this discussion and make notes of what is relevant to you.

You can, for instance, keep track of the number of questions people ask around a specific topic; you can track if people talk about one of your big competitors, or you can follow what your competitors do on the platform. All valuable information that can help you improve your work significantly!

4. Use Quora advertising

Did you know that Quora offers advertising options too? Just like most other free platforms, Quora offers businesses the possibility to show their ads to a targeted audience.

Quora ads will appear between the answers and questions that are related to your business or ad topic. This makes them quite effective since people scrolling through these questions are actively looking for what you advertise.

The ads can be focused on the target audience or topic (keyword) and get paid through bidding, just like on most other platforms.

5. Don’t promote yourself

Our last tip is a short but clear one: Quora is not made for shameless self-promotion. It is a platform to share knowledge on, and sometimes referring to your blog or website (if this adds something) is okay. However, avoid clearly mentioning your business or services too often. This will not be appreciated and will definitely not help your credibility on the platform.
